Harvesting Autumn 2017

The children have really enjoyed harvesting in the autumn term. Ms Howells reports that the children are working really hard: when we came back from the summer holidays, there were rather a lot of weeds but pupils have been tenacious in clearing the beds. Children of all ages have taken part in lots of harvesting activities and the produce has been sold on stalls on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Year 1 made soup for parents and all the Juniors made pasta sauce with freshly grown tomatoes. We had a good plum harvest this year and everyone picked apples: Year 1 also made baked apples. We even got some late strawberries and autumn raspberries. My personal favourite was the figs; the children seemed to most enjoy the peppery nasturtium flowers!
